GP Clinical Placements for undergraduate nursing students provide students the opportunity to work in real healthcare settings, under the supervision of qualified Registered Nurse Preceptors. The aim is to give students a hands-on experience and exposure to real patient care, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and develop essential clinical skills.
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia guidelines require nursing students to have direct supervision by a Registered Nurse. The supervision of students can be shared between practice nurses.
Prior to being assigned nursing students, all RN Preceptor’s participating in the program are required to complete the mandatory GCPHN RN Preceptor Onboarding Guide that provides a comprehensive overview of the program and RN Preceptor requirements and responsibilities.
